Nico Zornig

Director, Smart Cities

Nico’s ambition is to prepare the cities for an ever-changing future. To help cities to be able to make decisions today such that it fits the longer term demands and ambitions. Fact and knowledge based are key.

The demands on cities are becoming more and more complex. For example, the Paris declaration means long term policies needs the traditional policy domains of mobility, economy, environment and infrastructure to work together. Also the citizens demand more and more participation in decisions. Flexibility is demanded with a long term view!

For Nico is agility the new smart. Cities that are able to adapt to new situations and demands are the cities that smartly embrace the new future and are able to be attractive to both citizens and industry.

As director Smart Cities at the independent knowledge institute TNO, Nico is responsible for creating an environment where cities can work together to achieve their individual ambitions in a flexible, fact and knowledge based manner.
